Annuals

Annual plants and flowers are a great way to add variety to your gardening plans.

King Tut Cyperus Papyrus - Part of the Proven Winners of Graceful Grasses. 48"-72" tall with large heads of pendulous leaves; greenish flower skilets that measure one foot across.  It makes a great 'thriller' in a pot and can also be planted along the edge of a pond or in a pond.

Pennisetum Rubrum - This bronze grass is very striking with with its cream and burgundy plumes.  The seed heads start to show in late Spring and continue throughout the summer.  Old plumes are easily removed.  Tolerates the wind well and looks great in containers and landscape plantings.  Good for full sun and part shade.

'Limon' Talinum - Attractive lime green succulent looking foliage with arching panicles, adorned with light pink, star-shaped flowers.  The babybreath-like flowers continue for a long time and form a little seed capsule that changes color from amber to red.  Limon looks great on its own or paired with almost any color of flower or foliage.  Good for a sunny to part shade location.

'Henna' coleus - Uniform, serrated foliage in a unique chartreuse to copper color, complemented by dark burgundy undersides.  Can be planted in a sun or shade location and like all coleus, dislikes cold temperatures (below 10C).  It is stunning by itself or paired with orange to apricot begonias for the shade, or orange calibrachoa for the sun.

'Evolution' Salvia - This salvia has abundant, rich purple flower spires that begin in early summer and keep going right into fall.  This is a favorite for many, either planted as a large grouping or as a feature plant in a container, as it tolerates a wide range of summer weather.

'Tiger Eye' Rudbeckia - A well-branched sturdy plant with an incredible display of long-lasting, semidouble golden blooms.  They grow 18-24 inches tall and look great in a container or landscape.  This plant joins the list of other favorite tall rudbeckias: Indian Summer, Cherry Brandy, Autumn Colors, Denver Daisy, and Prairie Sun, as well as the dwarf Toto series.

Blazin' Rose Iresine - A vigorous performer with muticolored red leaves.  It is easy to care for and grows 18- 30 inces tall.  Pinching the terminal growth will cause it to spread.  Plant it in a part sun to shade location.  Iresine is also available in Blazin' Lime with eye-catching lime and cream variegated foliage.

Asti Osteospermum - This series is available in white, lavender, and purple.  This plant hs a more compact habit than other varieties and it has a profuse amount of long lasting, daisy-like blooms.  Some deadheading is required to extend blooming time.  Blooming will also decrease with extended days of high temperatures, but will resume again once the night time temperatures cool.  We also carry 'Voltage Yellow' by 'Simply Beautiful' and 'Orange Symphony' by Proven Winners.

'Sparkler' Cleome - This 3.5' - 4' remake of the more traditional taller varieties is a real show-stopper.  It will do well as a large container centre-piece, or for height at the back of a garden border.  The showy flowers burst almost like fireworks and have been commonly known as spider flower.
